Aftercare

We HIGHLY appreciate it when clients send healed photos! It’s helpful for us to see how they heal and to make sure the artwork is represented correctly. ✿

Tattoos are an investment & proper aftercare will preserve their quality and reduce the risk of infections.

Your artist will apply a second-skin bandage onto your fresh tattoo. Keep this on for 3-5 days. This bandage is breathable, waterproof, and accelerates healing. You can shower with this covering on.

After removing the bandage, gently cleanse the tattoo with soap and water, and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Regularly apply a thin layer of Aquaphor ointment, or your preferred tattoo cream, for 1 week. During weeks 2-3, you can switch to using a regular lotion.

Second skin bandages: It is normal for ink and plasma to collect onto the adhesive of the bandaid, making it look dark or blurry. Remove the bandage early if skin irritation develops, the edges roll up over the tattoo, or if an excessive amount of liquid is in the bandaid.

If your artist covers your tattoo with plastic wrap, remove the plastic covering after a few hours when you’re in a clean setting. Continue to the cleansing and moisturizing steps as listed above.

Tips:

  • Remove the bandage in the shower. Warm water softens the covering for easier removal.

  • Do not scratch or peel the tattoo.

  • No sunbathing or swimming for 1 month.

  • No working out while wearing the bandage or for at least 1 week. Excess sweat can make removal difficult and increase the chance of infections or complications.

  • Moisturize your skin regularly and wear SPF.
