Aftercare

Tattoos are an investment & proper aftercare will preserve their quality and reduce the risk of infections.

  1. Your artist will apply a Derm Shield bandage on your fresh tattoo. Keep this on for 2-4 days. This bandage is breathable, flexible, and prevents scarring/scabbing. You can shower with this covering on.

  2. Remove the bandage under warm water and gently cleanse the tattoo with soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  3. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, or your preferred tattoo healing ointment, for 1 week.

  4. Apply water-based body lotion for the final 2-3 weeks.

Second skin bandages: It is normal for ink and plasma to collect onto the adhesive of the bandaid, making it look dark or blurry. If there is an excessive amount of liquid or you have any concerns of a reaction, remove the bandaid immediately and begin the rest of your aftercare.

If your artist covers your tattoo with plastic wrap, remove the plastic covering after a few hours when you’re in a clean setting and begin the rest of your aftercare.

Tips:

  • Do not scratch or peel the tattoo.

  • No sunbathing, soaking, or swimming for 1 month.

  • Avoid working out while wearing the bandage and/or for at least 1 week.

  • Take care of your skin–drink water, moisturize and wear SPF.
